Hugh Stephens JORY, son of James JORY, Sr. came to Oregon with his parents and several
brothers and a sister in 1847, according to family tradition. He made a wagon in order to
pay for the purchase of a large leather bound Bible with a hasp. It contains many colored
and illuminated illustrations and black and white lithographs. It was printed in 1877 and
at one time was in possession of Lewis JORY, Albany, Oregon .
