1.  MARCUS LAFAYETTE2 GREEN  (DON FELIX1 GREEN) was born 09 Jun 1827 in Richmond, VA, and died 08 Mar 1903 in Mt. Vernon, Grant Co, OR.  He married (1) PERMELIA CARTER 29 Dec 1849 in Murray Co, GA.  She was born Abt. 1827 in TN, and died Abt. 1863.  He married (2) NANCY JANE JOHNSON 1866.  She was born 27 Oct 1849 in Little Rock, Ark, and died 1900.

1862, Mar 11 enlisted at Brownsville, Ark in Turnbull's Battalion, Arkansas Infantry, Company H. which later became Company H., 25th Arkansas Infantry Regiment.  By May 25th he was in the hospital.  Marcus was back on duty July through December 1862.  By January/February report of 1863 he was sick and back in the hospital.  He was in the hospital again in the March/April report.  He was present in the April/June report but it was noted he had only been paid through Feb 28, 1863.  Marcus deserted on July 24, 1863 and was captured Oct 31, 1863 In Brownsville, Ark and was on the List Of Confederate Prisoners confined at Brownsville, Ark Oct 10, 1863.

1869 emigrated to Oregon by ox team with his mother and siblings.

BLUE MOUNTAIN EAGLE:

April 12, 1901, p. 4, col. 3--Mt. Vernon--Sid Green's father and brother Henry, were over from Long Creek last week.   His father will remain here for a short time. (Report of April 9, 1901)

July 11, 1902--Long Creek, p. 2, col. 3--M. L. Green got tangled up in the stake rope of his saddle pony last week and is quite ill from injuries received. (Reported on July 8, 1902)

March 13, 1903, p. 3, col. 3--Mount Vernon--Messrs. Henry, Bert and Arthur Green and Mrs. Shaw, of Long Creek, were called by message last Saturday to be at the bedside of their father, M. L. Green, who died at noon Sunday.  The remains were taken to Long Creek for burial.  The aged gentleman has been a sufferer for several years, having received two strokes of paralysis in the last three years. July 10, 1901--Long Creek--Henry Green and family, of Mt. Vernon, passed through town last Friday en route to the Milton country where he goes to haul wheat during harvest.

October 25, 1901, p. 2, col. 2--Long Creek--Henry Green and family have returned to Long Creek to live. (Report Oct. 24, 1901)

November 7, 1901--Long Creek--Henry Green came in Sunday loaded with freight from Heppner.  He started out for another load Tuesday.

November 27, 1901--Long Creek--Henry Green left for Heppner last Saturday after freight for several of the merchants here.

February 11, 1902--Long Creek--Henry Green is out in Heppner after freight for our merchants.

February 25, 1902--Long Creek--Henry Green the only man who has dared to stem the winter's tide of storm and mud, started to Heppner for freight on Wednesday.

August 6, 1902--Long Creek--Henry Green and John Cowles have performed a very acceptable service to the town by cleaning out a number of wells.

October 8, 1902--Long Creek--Henry Green returned from Heppner Friday with freight.

November 19, 1902--Mount Vernon--Henry Green, of Long Creek, was in town this week visiting his brother Sidney.

January 30, 1903, p. 3, col. 3--Long Creek--H. F. Green has been considerably indisposed for a week, the result of an ulcerated tooth.

"Civil WarVeteran Dies at Daughter's Home--Darwin Hamilton Boen, a civil war veteran, died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Hayner in Riverdale.    His home was in Portland and he had been here since June visiting his daughter.  He was 88 years old and death resulted from the frailities of old age.  Beside the daughter here, he is survived by a son, Henry E. Boen of Portland and a daughter, Mrs. L. M. Currin of Oregon City.
    
The body was shipped to Portland Monday by Leroy Chambers and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Miller and Tracey chapel and interment was in the family plot in the Rose City cemetery."

July 16, 1901--Mt. Vernon--Sidney Green is having some improvements added to his residence

August 6, 1901--Mt. Vernon--Messrs. Sid and Bert Green and Casper Koehler left Tuesday for Heppner.  They were loaded with wool over and the former expect to bring back freight for H. H. Cunningham.

July 25, 1902, p. 3, col. 4--Mt. Vernon--Sid Green has taken charge of the Canyon City-Mitchell stage line.  Mr. Green is a stage man and will soon have the line in good running order.  He is putting on good rigs, fresh stock, and will have charge of the line for one year for Mr. Morrow, the contractor. September 10, 1902--Mount Vernon--Sidney Green made flying trip to Heppner and return last week.

November 19, 1902--Mount Vernon--Henry Green, of Long Creek, was in town this week visiting his brother Sidney.

January 7, 1903--S. Green sold his old stage stock to Mr. McCormick of Missouri, who was sent here to run the Canyon City-Mitchell line, but as he has failed to put the mail through, Mr. Green is again running the line on special service.

      "Ella Green Shaw, 88, was born Feb. 23, 1877 at Molalla, and died at the Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day on October 12..  She moved to Long Creek with her family when a young girl, and spent the remainder of her life there.   On Jan. 1, 1895 she married Roscoe Shaw.  The had one daughter and three sons.  A daughter, Secil, a son, Sydney, and her husband preceeded her in death.   She was a lone survivor of a large family–seven brothers and four sisters, also a number of half brothers and sisters.  She was the last remaining charter member of the local Seventh Day Adventist church which, was organized in 1896.  She became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1912.
       
Survivors include two sons, Gilman and Gerald, both of Long Creek, six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson." [Grant County Blue Mountain Blue Eagle; Thursday, November 4, 1965, p. 8, col. 1]

1912 Re: Divorce of Emily Green and Albert E. Green--Summons served 19 Nov 1912 in Salem, Marion Co, OR to Albert E. Green by A.D. Leedy, attorney for plaintiff. (They must have served him in prison).  Summons stated he was required to appear in suit within 10 days or Plaintiff will  "Apply to the Court for the relief prayed for in Plaintiff's complaint, to-wit: For a decree forever dissolving the marriage contract now existing between plaintiff and defendant; for the care, custody and control of Lytle E. Green and Curtis E. Green, the minor children of plaintiff and defendent; for plaintiff's costs and disbursements in this suit and for such other and further relief as unto equity and good conscience seemeth meet."

"In The Circuit Court of the State of Oregon, For Grant County.--Annie Emily Green, Plaintiff--Albert E. Green, Defendant--Plaintiff complains and for cause of suit against the above named defendant, alleges:
1) That for more than five years last past plaintiff has been and now is a resident and inhabitant of Grant County, state of Oregon.
2) That plaintiff and defendant were married at Mt. Vernon, Grant County, state of Oregon, on or  about the 12th day of February, 1907, and ever since said date have been and now are husband and wife.
3) That there has been born to plaintiff and defendant as the result of said marriage two sons, Lytle E. Green, aged four years, and Curtis E. Green, age two years.
4) That on or about the 17th day of May, 1910, the defendant therein was duly and regularly indicted by the Grand Jury of Grant County, State of Oregon, for the crime of murder in the first degree and thereafter and on or about the ___ day of July, 1910, the defendant above named entered a plea of guilty of murder in the second degree, and thereafter and on or about the 6th day of July, 1910 the defendant above named was duly and regularly sentenced by the Honorable Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for Grant County to be confined in the State Penitentiary of the State of Oregon, for the period of his natural life, and in accordance with the said judgment and sentence the above named defendant has been since on or about the ___day of July, 1910, and now is confined in said penitentiary in accordance with said sentence.
5) That plaintiff has always conducted herself as a true and considerate wife and the said felony committed by the defendant as hereinbefore alleged was without the knowledge, consent or connivance of the plaintiff herein but was and is wholly agains the will of the plaintiff herein.

        "Joseph Delo Green of Mt. Vernon died November 4, 1962, at the age of 70 years.  Final rites were conducted Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Driskill Mortuary chapel at 2 p.m. with Elder Fred Wagner of the Seventh day Adventist church officiating.
       
Joseph Delo Green was born August 21, 1892 in Long Creek, son of Marquis L. and Nancy Jane Green.  He was one of 14 children, 12 of whom preceded him in death.  When a young man he came to Mt. Vernon where he continued to make his home.
       
He was united in marriage March 2, 1928 to Nellie E. Parrish and to this union were born four children.  One son, Delo Edward, died in infancy.  In 1924 Mr. Green moved with his family to Hood River and resided there eight years.  The remainder of his lifetime was spent at Long Creek and Mt. Vernon.
       
He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Elks lodges.
       
Surviving are his wife, Nellie; three daughters, Mrs. Lorene Carter of Prairie City, Mrs. Colleen Simmons of John Day and Mrs. Elouise Simmons of Canyon City; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Ella Shaw of Long Creek.
       
Music at the final services was presented by Mrs. Edith Damon of Mt. Vernon who sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” with Mrs. Elda Way at the organ.
       
Pallbearers were Walter Jenkins, Clarence Jenkins, Charles McKenna, Robert Sproul and Sidney Officer, Mt. Vernon, and Hillery Stout, Canyon City.
       
Honorary pallbearers were Farrel Lemons, Jay McKern, Tom Negus, Homer Damon, Darrel McKern and A. J. Tanler.  Interment was made in the Fletcher cemetery at Mt. Vernon.
       
Out of county relatives and friends attending the final services were Mrs. William Lemons of Albany, Mrs. J. C. Rogers and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Shank of Oakridge, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wain of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Parrish of Creswell." "Final rites were held Tuesday in John Day for Otis H. Green, 65, of Mt. Vernon.  The late Mr. Green, who had been ill the last three years, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Blue Mountain hospital in John Day, where he had been a patient five weeks.  Death was due to heart and lung ailments.
       
Service was held at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Driskill mortuary.  Officiating was the Rev. Richard Goold of Long Creek.  Mrs. Richard Goold, Long Creek, served as organist.  John Liveira of John Day sang “How Great Thou Art” as a vocal solo.  Mrs. Kathleen Rehder and Mrs. Edith Damon, Mt. Vernon, sang a duet, “Whispering Hope.” John Fossum of John Day read a tribute written by the late Mr. Green’s daughter, Mrs. D. L. Clea Rasmussen.
       
Interment was made in the Canyon City cemetery.  Active pallbearers were Charles McKenna, Clyde Stormer, Isaac Shank, Arnold Lemons and Carl Edwards, Mt. Vernon, and George Gilbert of John Day.  Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Culp, Miles Gilman, Rex Brisbois, Peter Holmberg, Robert Hiatt, Marvin Brannon and Byron Lemons of Mt. Vernon.
       
Otis H. Green, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Green, was born June 12, 1895, at Long Creek.  He attended the Long Creek and Mt. Vernon schools.  His marriage to Valene Irene McKern was solemnized June 12, 1918, at mt. Vernon.  Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Green established their home at Mt. Vernon, where they continued to reside.
       
The late Mr. Green was engaged in the trucking business several years and he served as the Grant county weed supervisor a number of years.  He was a member of the Mt. Chapel church in Mt. Vernon.
       
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Valene Green, Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. D. L. (Clea) Rasmussen, Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Pat Leach and Penny, Rickey and Randy Rasmussen, Mt. Vernon; a brother, Joe Green, Mt. Vernon; and a sister, Mrs. R. W.
