Descendants of Don Felix Greene

Research on the Don Felix Greene family has been ongoing .  The results on the following pages were obtained only through the dedicated research of numerous individuals  and descendants including a base team consisting of   Terry Williams, Colleen Arima and Jeannie Miyama.  They were later joined by Steve Ford, J. Hastings, T. Seim, W. Shaw and S. Spaulding.  The parentage of Don Felix Greene has not been proven, although there are numerous theories.  Early information suggested that his middle name was Fitzhugh, although later it was listed as Felix on the death certificate of one of his daughters.

 Don Greene was born in Virginia where he remained until about 1828 when he moved to TN.  Even that date is in question because his oldest daughter always claimed she was born in TN and her younger sibling claimed to have been born in VA.  It is possible that both are true and that they moved back and forth.  In 1840 Don  disappears and Nancy is listed as head of household in Roane Co, TN.   By 1850 he was found in Mississippi living with a newer and younger wife.  After that he disappears again and his second wife remarries in 1853.  It is not known if he died or if he moved on to greener pastures.    My personal opinion is that he may have accompanied his oldest daughter west in 1852.  He may have died on the plains.  Any and all information on any of these individuals would be most appreciated.  Additional information on this family can be viewed at the Green Family History

1.  DON FELIX¹ GREENE was born Abt. 1796 in VA.  His place of death is unknown.  He married (1) NANCY ANN DRUMMOND Abt. 1819 in Halifax Co, VA, daughter of WILLIAM DRUMMOND and SALLY PERKINS.  She was born 30 Jul 1805 in Halifax Co, VA, and died 12 May 1893 in Salem, Marion Co, OR.  He married (2) UNITY WISE 30 Apr 1849 in Monroe Co, MS.  She was born Abt. 1826.

1820 Meadsville, Halifax Co, VA  enumeratiod as Don F. Green.  This census shows Don and Nancy with an older woman (probably one of their mothers) living with them.  I believe it is probably Don's mother because an older woman also shows up in the 1830 census and it is believed Nancy's mother died prior to 1820
 

1830 Roane Co, TN  enumerated as Don F. Green.  This census shows Don and Nancy with 2 sons under five (Berryman and one unknown son); 1 son 5-10 (Marcus) and one male 20-30 (Don); 1 daughter 5-10 (Martha Ann), a woman 20-30 (Nancy) and an older woman 60-70 (probably the same woman who was enumerted in the 1820 census).
 
 

1840  Don Felix Green is unaccounted for.

1850 Eastern Division, Monroe Co, MS enumerated as D.F. Green.  This shows what appears to be our Don Green with a younger wife and two small children.
