On November 23, 1812 a small party of fourteen men, led by two clerks,
William Wallace and J.C. Halsey set out to establish a post on the
Willamette.  On January 15, 1813 an additional party was sent to
winter at the new post.  During the winter of 1813/1814 the following 
americans were camped on the Willamette.

On October 16, 1813, the Pacific Fur Company sold their interests to
the North West Fur Company.  By November 1813 members of this company
were moving into the Willamette to winter.  The following were 
members of the party at The Willamette Post near Champoeg.
