"KAUFMAN DIES; RITES MONDAY---Was Pastor of Evergreen Apostolic Faith Church for 48 Years----Waldo Hills, Dec. 18--William KAUFMAN, aged 76 years, 11 months and nine days died at his home here at 6 o'clock Thursday night after an illness of three weeks. Death came as a shock to the community for his condition had shown marked improvement since Tuesday.
William KAUFMAN had been pastor of the Apostolic Faith church here for 48 years. He was born in Switzerland in January 1855, coming to America with his parents at the age of 13 years and settling in Ohio, where he lived until his laste 20's, when he came with his parents to this locality.
William KAUFMAN and Caroline AFFOLDER were married at Norton, Ill. To this union were born 12 children. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Caroline KAUFMAN and children Mrs. Mary SCHURTER of Fremont, Ill, Martha KAUFMAN of Los Angeles, Mrs. A. E. KUENZI, Mrs. Earl DESART, Mrs. H. HARI, Mrs. R. B. KLOPFENSTEIN, Jacob S. KAUFMAN, George KAUFMAN and Benjamin KAUFMAN of this vicinity. Preceeding him in death were three sons, Joseph, John and William.
The funeral services will be held Monday at 1 o'clock at the church. An old time friend of Rev. KAUFMAN, Rev. Jacob EDDLEMAN of Sabetha, Kans. will conduct the services.
Jack and Ekman mortuary is in charge of services. Friends are kindly requested to omit flowers."
