CROISAN RIDGE

Croisan Ridge and Croisan Gulch lie on the southwest edge of Salem. This area was named for a prominent Marion County pioneer family. John Henry Croisant emigrated to Oregon in 1846 via the Southern Route. He eventually settled in the area in March 1850. The second generation of this family found the family name so often mispronounced that they dropped the "t".

The area is currently the site of the Croisan Creek subdivision and is considered a part of Salem.
