ELK HORN

Located on the Litte North Santiam River a few miles NE of Mill City, it is assumed that the principal business of this little town, doubtless had to do with mining activity along the upper reaches of Little North Santiam River. A post office called Ivie was established in this area in June 1890 with Martha J. Heath as postmaster. The name was changed to Elkhorn in March 1892. At this time William D. Morehouse was postmaster. It is not known if they were in the same location. The office was finally closed in June 1917.

My name is Stephenie Flora. I hope you have enjoyed your visit.
