KLUMB

Klumb post office was established Jan 4, 1893, with Mrs. Walter Pugsley as first postmaster. He husband, was the first mail carrier. The office served a small area about three miles NW of Mehama. It was established by Jacob Siegmund, who had suggested that the office be named after his wife, Mary Margarethe [Klumb] Siegmund. On June 10, 1893 the office was moved to the Siegmund home with Jacob Siegmund as postmaster. It remained there until it was closed Feb 15, 1910, because of the extension of rural free delivery from Stayton.
