Rosedale is located about six miles south of Salem at the point where the old highway from Salem to Albany crosses Battle Creek. The Rosedale post office was established April 20, 1892 by change of name from Dencer, with James M. Lawrence first postmaster. The Dencer office had been in operation since Feb 12, 1889, at the home of Jacob Dencer about two miles NW of Rosedale.
